Hi all,

Yes I am very late in posting this up. Life has been insane with going back to school, hospital trips with head injuries, snakes, fires and we are renovating, my loungeroom is looking awesome.

This is sadly my last post for Joy's Life, all good things must come to an end. I had a great time with Joy's stamps, and Joy has some awesome new things coming up so watch her HERE..I felt that it was my time to leave and not only do I have some mind blowing things going on in my life (yes all very good) I also have some amazing things coming up.

Here is a sweet owl that I have been making in for lots of little girls and ladies, the sweet owls have come to an end for a while though....The owls have been made from denim and good quality fabrics

I am having so much fun being the DT Leader at Joys life, the theme for this week is Shabby Chic, that spells girl girl girl to me. I wanted to make something special for a new best friend, the three of us are going to have so much fun.

In the past 6 months I feel that a weight has been lifted, a few changes happened in my life and I can see it was for the best for me...Now I look forward to every day and spending time with some gorgeous people in my life.

Now when my big fat package arrived from Joy the other day..I dived right in and started playing.

Hi all,

Today I have a double layout to show you. This is of my son and his first day of Kindy...He was so excited and every day after that has just been a blast for him. He is very popular there, which is so good because he was so shy at the start. He has even got a little sparkle for one of the girls there, and she is absolutely stunning, long dark curly hair and blue eyes...A beautiful little doll. I am so proud of him and all he has achived over the last year.

I went into a fun challenge today, you had 30 minutes to do a layout and it had to have pink in it EASY!!!! I have girls.

Double embossing????? Not sure!!! Well let me tell you, get your embossing ink, rub it over your letters, then sprinkle you embossing powder, tip it off, yes yes I know, we all know how to do that...but then we are going to run it through the cuttlebug...GORGEOUS effect...Have a go, you'll love it. That's double embossing!!!

When Joy approached me and asked would I be her DT LEADER at Joys Life I was seriously over the moon...Hello who wouldn't want to be a leader at Joys Life.

Oh and I just had to dob my Best Friend into being a leader as well. Tracy is very talented and is going to be loved in blog land, I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to help me run this smoothly.

I have had heaps of ladies ask me how I got the crackle effect on this canvas that I did. Well let me tell you that it was not a hard thing

First I painted a canvas (whatever colour you like) I did green on this, then I put black soot distress paint over the top which you can get from Scraptique Peta is gorgeous and is very happy to help you in anything that you need. I met Peta last weekend and she is beautiful, I will continue to buy my products from her, amazing prices and super friendly service what more could you ask for in the scrappy world. I then sprayed green glimmer mist over the top. The effects where outstanding, of course the photo does not show this, but you get the idea...If you have the chance get the crackle paint have a play because you can come up with some great stuff. My canvas does look different and unusual that's why I had so many women ask me about it...

As you will notice over the next week or so I have used the same photo a few times but for good reason, I normaly make a layout for myself and one for the kids so when they say goodbye and leave the nest they can take their albums with them and I won't be left with nothing. It's lots of work, but very worth it in my eyes.

I was featured as Guest Designer this week on Pink Cricut, Yahhh!!! love that place... The gorgeous Sarah does some amazing things from day to day. I love getting up first thing in the morning grabbing my coffee and reading what she has come up with yet again.

I was so excited about getting this post up after I had submitted it to my DT, that I forgot lol...Very busy week here in the Sousa house, lots going on. My husband has been in Perth getting a Diploma. I'm so proud of him and what he has achieved in the past few months, it's been long and hard on all of us, but we are working through it. It has been really hard on my little man, he really needs another boy around the house, to do "Boy Stuff" with.

Well I didn't ever think that I was going to get to do this post, but and I am only a little late with getting my DT work up, nothing too bad.

I have also had some information passed onto me that I had a comment by someone, I was called an expert!! They also said a few other things, that was so lovely that someone was watching my work so closely like that, Thank you!!

The challenge this week at Frosted Designs is to use postage stamps, tags, envelopes, on your card, layout or projects. This week at Frosted Designs we are having a challenge on Flourishes, sounds pretty doesn't it!! Have a look at what some of the other designers have done here. You can also meet our new and very talented designers.

I was given the opportunity to use kaisers 2 new Christmas packs being released in September. One is December 25th and the other one is Silly Season, how exciting!! It is an amazing pack with so much in it. I have both of the packs and will be using lots of it coming up to Christmas.

This is my oldest daughter getting ready to put the Christmas tree up a couple of years ago. I have made a hanging scroll

Ribbon Hanger

Now you don't have to stuff your ribbons in bags or boxes anymore, they get all crinkles and then you spend half your time getting all the creases out., it is very practical and easy to take with you on crops.

Here is my tutorial on a great ribbon hanger

Cut a 12x12 piece of chipboard into 9 pieces of 4"x4"

I have used about 30 you can use more or less though.

Then down the bottom cut a 3" long slot, coming in from the

sides half an inch and then measure half an inch from the bottom

Then paint each one all the different colours, I have even

painted one in Christmas colours for my Christmas

ribbons. This is up to your imagination how many colours

you would like, I did for example 2 pinks because I have a

lot of that colour ribbon. I also painted both sides

Then paint each one all the different colours, I have even

once you have painted all of them, get your croc-o-dile

punch a hole right in the middle of all of them

you will need a large clip ring to attach them all to

Now for the fun part!!

Attach all your ribbons and watch it come

together

Now I don't have my ribbons stuffed in the little bags

anymore in the cupboard, where I can not see them

and they also don't get any crinkles. I am yet to add many more

ribbons to this as I keep finding more bags of ribbons

This is half of ribbons, I have not put all of them on, I keep finding bags of ribbon and have brought lots in the last week as well, so what you see here I would have three times the amount more to go on, and it will fit.

When taking it with you to crops or wherever, just grab a plastic bag and put all the ribbons in it and then tie the handles to the clip ring and your good to go.

Another thing to remember to when threading your ribbons on don't pull hard because the chipboard will break with some thicker ribbons.

A very quick one of these ribbon hangers is also get a coat hanger and do the same. I like this one though because I have colour coded it.

This is also very handy for sewers.

YAHHHHH!!!!! One of my favorite layouts of all time, has just been published in SNR magazine. There is some mind blowing amazing work from some of the best designers in there, and I am holding my head up high that I got published in their magazine....Woohooo

This weeks challenge at Frosted Designs is Animals. Do you have a favorite pet or maybe been to the zoo, link up you projects and join in the fun, and if you don't you might miss out on this great prize from Nikki Sivils, I have been chatting a bit with them and they are just gorgeous people. I used normal cardstock and lightly wiped over with brown stazon this gave it a grungy look.
Other papers are Kaiser Crafts Grunge Rebel and Making Memories Just Chillin. Now for my lettering I used acrylic, cut out on the cricut, I use alot of acrylic on my work, I love it, it's strong and you can do lots with it, I have embossed my letters and the brown stazon. I am going to say one thing....My husband named our dear dog before I got with him, I had no say in it...he is getting on now, in fact we had the census man come to our house the other night and he stepped over him knocked on the door stepped back AND that's when he woke up...Great guard dog, just perfect!! lol...Well the ears photo, that was just great timimng with the camera

For the past couple of weeks life has not stopped, I have been jet setting all over Australia, so unfortunally have not had time to blog and only a little scrapping going on, I only wish I had the life to scrap all day every day.

This quilt that I made for my daughter took hours, I said that I wouldn't make it if I was in a bad mood, or upset by anyone or anything, so it was on and off this week...I wanted to make it with all my love for her and now it is finished.

Words can not say really what I think of my new ish found friend, we have know each other for about 2 years now and in that time, things just went crazy, we talk every day, share good times and some bad times, we scrap alike. We watch our children growing up and are always there to support and give motherly advice. I have never once felt down about anything when talking to her, she gives me a drama free friendship. I don't just smile when we laugh together my stomach hurts everytime....skrapdar

I had one of the best parcels in the mail today.

Since being on the DT at Frosted Designs I have made a pretty good friend, Barb, and taking on the sponsorship coordinators job it's very rare that we don't take at least every second day...I try not to make her life hard LOL.
I thought that it had to be a good idea to send her some presents from Australia (which you will be receiving soon) chocolate and some other Aussie favorites, and she wanted to do the same, this is what my present was.

I feel like the most spoilt lady alive LOL

I have had just one of those days today, one of my friends was in a car accident and she didn't make it, she was only 31 with kids, so young to be taken....and then other bits and pieces of just yuk stuff to top my day off.

But this is just what I needed....So Thank you Barb

My Grandfather was in WW1 from 1915 to 1919, he was 18 years of age. I don't think that I will ever understand why there is a need for war, I'm sure we were not put on this earth to hate another human that much that we hurt them. Well now it's time to pull my finger out and get back into it...In these last weeks I have been on a holiday to QLD and on a Scrapbooking retreat, very worth it, I won three big prizes one was worth 100 and the other 50.00..So not a bad weekend....Now I have had all three kids off sick with a nasty flu and waiting to see if it's chooping cough...Oh I hope not. Can you spot the butterflies

One of the main things about my scrapbooking that I love is not only to get the story down, but is to spend time on the LO and not just slap it down, it's not me, I need to spend time on it. I have all the photos and all the details, I'm not in any hurry.

This photo is my little girl Jada, we went on a fishing trip, well it was to a Trout farm where you can fish and guaranteed to catch something, they then clean the fish pack it on ice and you take it home cook it up. They do cook it there as well at the Trout Farm

Here is my LO this week for Frosted Designs birds and butterflies, oh how I wish it was "Spring" Now there is 3 butterflies can you sot them ???? I didn't mean for the LO to hide them it just happened

A New Season A New Skill. Crafting Misfit is having a BLOGHOP

I was asked to do a inspirational project . It so had to involve my cricut, I have never used my cricut before for material, so that's just what I did.

Now here is a small tutorial on how I did it, and I would like to say that if I can do this... anyone can.

I ironed on the Fusible webbing to the material (cute material hey) a little out of focus as I was taking a photo an holding the iron, it's harder then it sounds

and cut a section out about 5 "x 5 " so I new I had enough, material for my love heart cut out. There was a couple of bugger ups, so just make sure that you have the material the right way lol

Make sure the material is face down, your blade will shred the material if the other way. Now the blue tape is painters tape, great stuff for this.

I had this on multi cut, but it just didn't need it, once was plenty....Shape blade and sticky mat is enough for a great cut.
Now I forgot to take a photo of when it came out of the cricut but you get the idea. Peel the backing off the fusible webbing, and lay on your little suit or shirt, whatever you desire and then iron again. I will sew around the edge of the love heart just to stop the fray you can hand sew or machine it.

I hope you enjoyed this small tutorial. I have love doing this, first time for everything, and I had a lot of fun....Now all I have to do is find a baby to give this to, it's 0000 so a wee little baby. Any questions about what I did, please leave a message.

Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle

Drinking away at my Iced Mocha a few days ago I thought, this could be cute, and sure enough it turned out great, another sweet project that is going into the girls room.

You could also make these up for Easter that is just around the corner, (sorry to remind you all) they can be made to suit a boy or a girl, fill it with little easter eggs and you done!!!

There are some wonderful recycled/repurposed creations over at Frosted Designs head on over have check it out. The prize this week is also one that you have to win, in the bottom right hand corner you will see a paper that is green with pink and blue flowers on it....Well the other side of that paper is my all time favorite paper... I have used that paper on my beach layout, it's the pink and white one, it's very yummy.

Fabulous Friday Challenge, Reuse or Repurpose

Over at Frosted Designs this week we have a excellent new challenge. Recycle, Reuse, Repurpose...Huh I hear you say, well it's easy, I have used all of my sons photos that we normally would throw away, but I had other ideas for them, I cut a small section out of each photo that was no good, it might have been out of focus or someone closed their eyes. I even cut up an old photo and made my own embellishments out of it, I sanded around the edges and then put some Rub and Buff over the scratched area and then wiped away, I was really happy with the way they turned out, Perfect!!! I then put rub ons on and glossyed over the top, except for the large photo and the embellishments I painted Mod Podge over all the little photo, which are all mounted on a mini canvas... This came from someone I seen just sifting through her photos once and just tossing the photos away, and I thought No they are memories to, what could be done with them. I am also going to do the girls ones as well.

Come over to Frosted Designs and have a look at what the other DT members have made, I was stunned at the things that we just throw away and look at what can be done with them.

I love Spring, but here in Australia we are coming into Autumn.

Today I went to the funeral of a very good friend of mine, I didn't know how to say goodbye, so I decided that I won't I will catch up with her again one day and we will craft again together one day. We had so much fun the day we made our birdhouses together (mine even made it to the tree) this little birdhouse is going in the girls room. But when I look at my birdhouse hanging in the tree I will think of you and the fun times we had together. You were a beautiful true friend and I will miss you x

I went down to our second hand store and went hunting for a old hard cover book. After blowing the dust off this one I thought perfect, i'll give this brown old book some new life, so home it came with me.Firstly buy a big container of glue (Mod Podge works great) but anything you can use smoothly with a paint brush is just fine

I had a 520 page book so I glued about 435 of those pages (This is ALOT easier then it sounds) then divided the last 85 pages into 2 sections and then glued those 2 sections together

Now this is where the fun begins. Cut a section out of the glued pages to fit the photo

Once this is done, cover the front and back of the book with you favorite paper, leaving the spine. I added a heap of assorted colors of ribbon to the spine

It is up to you if you want to cover the book first or paint the pages, I did a bit of testing to see if my colors would match, but I covered the book first, this is up to you which bit you want to do first.

The best way to do your painting is paint a page and let it dry then do the next page, you will have 5 pages in total to paint

I covered the inside with a patterned paper

Add lots of embellishments and bling

Lastly add your photo's in the cut out section

Here is a layout that I just finished after a long time. Bray used to dribble ALOT, I was always wiping his chin or he always had a bib on.

The Scrappiest challenge is this one, and it was so much fun to do.

My first attempt at a tissue flower, it came out (to my surprise) quite well

I often look at my little girls and think that they are always going to be my Angels looking over mums shoulder, watching every step I make.

I was also trying to adjust the lighting/shadow, but it wouldn't play my game and since I am so dam sick, I'm just going to leave it as it is. I love it either way

At school all us kids used to play a game called Kiss 'n' Chase as I am sure we all did, the boys would chase and if they caught us they were allowed to give us a quick kiss, I learnt very quick to be a fast runner as I didn't want to be kissed by smelly boys at all.... Ohh another challenge, this is so nice to be getting through these LOs and projects.

The scrappiest is celebrating their 100th Sketch....WOW that's huge, congratulations to them. Drop over there and check them out, it's beautiful blog with so many talented people on there.

Here is my take on their sketch, I love the fact that I have made a LO from one of their sketches. It's a soft colored one, but thats just what I wanted for this one, Jada looks so unhappy here, but the guy that was taking the photo was huge and in black jeans, black leather jacket, rings on fingers and black slicked back hair, not that I had anything against him, but at 9 in the morning there was no way that my daughter was going to smile at him LOL

Do you stack up ? Double pager

Over at Do you stack up ? there is a Hot new challenge Distress it and who can resist a challenge, it helps get my layouts done, and I love a challenge.

You say Distress it.....Well here you go

My heart Attack tool came in handy for this layout. I love it, you can sand with it and distress with it.

I have embossed the green bazzill and the sanded over the top of it, I inked around the edges with Pine needles Distressing Ink.

The leaf is made from velum, I think it turned out beautiful and will use this more often. And yes that is a REAL twig from my garden, I have used this on a few things as I like the effect that it brings to my page/project

With the dragonfly I used a product called Rub 'n Buff...You rub it on with your finger and buff it off with a soft cloth, it gives it a antique metallic finish, with that I sprayed over glimmer mist Antique brass.

again embossed and inked around the edges with peeled paint Distressing Ink. Imaginisce Dinosaur papers are just peeping out from behind.

Winter Warmies

I decided to enter this challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut because I could not resist doing this page on my mums friend Anne. I lost my mum when I was 16 to a massive heart attack. I don't know to much about my mums friend only what my mum had told me, which was she loved to craft like my mum did, that she lived in Canada and that she was a close friend of my mums, but because of the distance they didn't meet up much. But I know as girlfriends do, she loved her alot.

Anyway here is my layout and I hope you will enjoy it.

Right "Off the page" and at my front door

I wanted a sign at my front door to remind people to take their shoes off....You can not see the shimmer or glitter but it sparkles.

AWESOME challenge over at Frosted Designs go over and sign up, you have to check this blog out. The prize is so worth giving it a go.

I used a canvas and turned it backwards and made it into a shadow box. I painted the "Welcome" sign with Kaiser paint, called MUD PUDDLE, I then put a layer of crackle accents from Ranger and I painted the inside of the frame with Kaiser paint called SLATE. The flowers I used were Prima flowers. The house was done up in Glimmer Mist (coffee I think) and Olive glimmer mist for the tree, with of course Glossy Accents.

And yes it is a real twig from outside under my tree.

Now for my tip: I cut up a coke can and embossed a square with my cuttlebug and then put Caramel Alcohol Ink on it, and left it over night, this gives it a rusty look.

Happy New Year to Everyone.

I hope your all looking forward to 2011, I know I am. 4 years ago I started this blog, and I just classed it of more of an online diary, a place that I could sneak away to post up my things that I had made. I never used to tell anyone of my blog, as I was never thought that anyone would want to look at my things that I made. I now have 61 followers. I never came online to show off, because that is just not me, I have never really thought that any of what I have made has been any good. It has came as such a shock when people have complimented me on my work, I have even sold my things online, this has been a really big wow factor for me, I have been to fairs as well.

So thank you for everyone who follows me, who gives me the courage to continue making the things that I love that I never thought that was any good. I love each and every one of you for this, some of you are my best and closest friends and some of you I have never met in my life, but I truly appreciate it.

Hi everyone,
I'm sure one lucky person out there has guessed the theme and have gone over to Scrappy-Go-Lucky's original post and placed your answer for your chance to WIN one of the hot new cartridges, Winter Frolic, Rock Princess, Happy Hauntings and Country Life

Here is my card and the Instructions

Firstly the Black and White patterned paper is from Kasiercraft and it's Florentine. I then used SCAL for the Teacup, and those fantastic Cri-Kits Gel Pens for the Chinese Sign and the word tranquility. I layered it with black cardstock, then used Gunmetal Stickles around the black cardstock, all of the black card is Distress around the edges. I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Pearl) and sprayed then ran the card through that, which gives it a light shimmer effect, I find this is the only way to use Glimmer Mist, otherwise I end up with splotches on my work.

For inside the card I used white cardstock, which I used Tim Holtz, Black Soot Distress Ink, around the edges and three black Rhinestones.

I finished it off using light weight silver ribbon around the card and a brad made from the i top maker.

I used Blue and White cardstock, on the Title and journaling card I used a product called Smoochspritz you will find it though Clearsnap it can be used on chipboard, cardstock, wood etc. I used the colour Navy Twinkle and just held the bottle at a distance and sprayed to give it a splattered effect. On the words Silly, Laugh and On the Go, I used the cuttlebug on them and went over lightly with Faded Jeans Distress Ink, then glued on some funky paperclip embellishments.

My scanning in was not great at all on this one...But I love the little fire cracker Peachy Keen Stamp

SVG file for moon and stars and coloured fireworks. Basecamp cartridge used for Title and rubons for journaling. Faded jeans Distress Ink for journaling card and sponged over with a mesh, also sponged around moon with Scattered Straw Distress Ink. Stars have a yellow glitter.

Zooballoo and Animal Kingdom

The cartridges used in this layout were Zooballoo and Animal Kingdom. Alot of Glossy accents ( which Im finding alot better then Dimensional Magic) Dimensional Magic cracks on me, I have tried thin, thick, someone said if it gets to cold, tried summer and winter...But anyway the Glossy accents is working for me now. I also used stickles and green glitter.

The colours in this layout are so much brighter then are shown here, the layout never looks quite the same as the real thing ...I think I'm just going to have buy myself a really good camera, OR just get myself a editor for photoshop... I think I might have to settle for the camera.

Black and silver cardstock, Green patterned paper was Poppy Seed Multi Flowers, By K Company, Word Adi was made from chipboard on Cricut with deep cut blade, with font cartridge Doodletype, and green paint, Black rubon's for the writing. Kiwi flowers are Heidi Snapp, small flowers are Kaiser white, other extras include, silver rub ons, and kaiser pearls.

Silver Cri-Kits gel pen for butterfly, and journalling. Acetate cut butterfly with Sure-Cuts a Lot to layer.

Glitter Silver gel pens for the title 'Little Lady' on cotton fabric, font was Doodletype.

Title '7 months' used black Cri-Kits Gel pens and then Silver Cri-kits Gel pens to layer writing, Dimensional Magic to accent.

Journalling made with chipboard using the Kaiser Victorian Swirl shape and once journalled in Doodletype font, finished with Glossy Accents.

Paper is BoBunny LoveBandits Flower diecut.

Extras include: Bazills, Distressing inks, Kindy Glitz, Brads, Ribbon, Ladybug embellishment, Kaiser flowers and Rhinestones

I entered a competition with Scrappy-Go-Lucky to win a gypsy, I came third place and won a 50.00 voucher for their shop...I was so happy. I had so much fun doing this layout. having a beautiful doll for a daughter helps ever so much.

Not very productive

No. I just haven't been at all productive, it has to be this heat, who in their right mind lives in a house with three kids with no aircon...Hmmm yes that's right...it would be me.

Anyway on a better note, a friend come over and told me that my big old peach tree was ready, I had been looking out my kitchen window and the peaches on that side were still green, well the other side was ready.
So we are now enjoying fresh peaches Yum.

Yah I'm back. And this time I plan to stay around. Some days get way to crazy to blog, but I will try my best....I have found a new passion SCRAPBOOKING, I'm doing the kids albums. I also do work with chipboard and plan in the future to do my own childhood family albums, and I will be posting lots of pics as well. I hope to give you small tutorials and other bits along the way. So enjoy this walk with me through my life.

Stuffed Mushrooms

I made some stuffed mushrooms to go with our steak last night.

And I'll even share the recipe

6 Large field mushrooms
Diced bacon (2-3 rashes)
1 tbs olive oil
couple of splashes of white wine (2 tbs roughly )
1 clove of garlic
1 tbs breadcrumbs
2-3 tbs Parmesan cheese
1/2 mixed herbs
2-3 spring onions

Remove the stems from mushrooms and chop them up.
Add all the other ingredient's and mix well, mixture should hold together but not wet.
Place mixture into mushrooms and then bake for around 45 minutes.

Have this as a side with meat of your choice and baby potatoes. Or even try steak salad and mushrooms.

What luck is this.... Bray took his first steps yesterday and as he was standing up I thought you are going to walk, well I happened to have the camera beside me so I turned it on and took the pic as he took his first steps, not that it looks like it in the photo, but trust me I was one very happy Mummy. He was 17 months and 4 days, a late starter.

I also made some strawberry jam, with some fresh strawberry from Kirup

This was originally posted on Tania's blog, and I thought so much of this was so true. This is originally from Australia, in case you were wondering.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE 1920's, 30's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us and lived in houses made of asbestos. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes or cervical cancer.

Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets or shoes, not to mention, the risks some of us took hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a Ute on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

Take away food was limited to fish and chips, no pizza shops, McDonalds, KFC, Subway or Red Rooster. Even though all the shops closed at 6.00pm and didn't open on the weekends, somehow we didn't starve to death!

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. We could collect old drink bottles and cash them in at the corner store and buy Fruit Tingles and some fire crackers to blow up frogs and lizards with.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soft drinks with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because......

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes.

We built tree houses and cubby houses and played in creek beds with matchbox cars. We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape or DVD movies, no surround sound, no mobile phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no Lawsuits from these accidents. Only girls had pierced ears! We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

You could only buy Easter Eggs and Hot Cross buns at Easter time.......no really!

We were given BB guns and sling shots for our 10th birthdays, We drank milk laced with Strontium 90 from cows that had eaten grass covered in nuclear fallout from the atomic testing at Maralinga in 1956.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Mum didn't have to go to work to help dad make ends meet!

Footy had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

Our teachers used to belt us with big sticks and leather straps and bully's always ruled the playground at school. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

Our parents got married before they had children and didn't invent stupid names for their kids like 'Kiora' and 'Blade'.....

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 70 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

And YOU are one of them!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good. And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.
